Great player in his day but not the signing we need or should want.
Part of assembling the "Dads Army" of the Premiership.

No doubting he is a quality player, and probably does have another season or two in the tank, but I don't really understand oir interest here from a tactical point of view, unless it is being made without Bilic's involvement or even perhaps without him in mind. It seems pretty clear that Bilic has come to view 5 at the back as our best formation and a lot of performances bear that out. He even wanred to make Antonio into a right back and while he did try him repeatedly in a back four, it was clearly for his attacking attributes over his defensive ones. Masuaku also looks more natural at wing back. All this seems to point to what Bilic wants from his wide defenders.
32 year old Zabaleta (who perhaps is a tad unfairly treated in terms of his age being as he's looked about 55 for several years) could offer a lot. But he's not going to be bombing down the wing anytime soon.
And if Bilic is involved and is thinking he can also cover centre half, I'd like to point out two things to him given the chance. 1) He is absolutely shite there, and 2) WE HAVE BURKE AND FUCKING OXFORD! They don't need any more players being put in the way of their development, especially ageing ones played out of position!

He played as a defensive midfielder in one of the 5-0 games. Cant remember which one.

Italian clubs love a player like zabaleta but never good enough for us apparently. Sign him

Re: Zabaleta

Short term, past his best, questionable motivation, slow, old. Been brilliant for City but this is the sort of signing a club with ambition would avoid.
Welcome Pablo.

Always respected this fella as a footballer of quality..and proper pro. On this occasion I think this is a decent and canny signing.
Yes it's right up Sullivans street..but I can't grumble with this one tbf.

He wasn't god enough fo Real though was he, which is why he hadn't played for so long and had been released
